File Specifications

File types

PDF files are best for printing as they lock in the fonts, images, colours, sizing, and layout exactly as you intended, ensuring consistent, high-quality results on any press.
Word documents, on the other hand, can re-flow or change depending on software versions, fonts, and printer settings, often using low-resolution images and non-print colour modes, making them unreliable for commercial printing and more likely to cause errors or delays.

If you are supplying rasterised images for printing, like .jpgs or .png files from Photoshop, please ensure the files are flattened and high resolution.
Just Copy will, of course, check all files on receipt and contact you if we believe the quality may not be suitable for printing.

Please note: You can create PDF files from any software. Usually under your file settings there is a 'Save as' or 'Export' to PDF option.
Just make sure you select the best option for printing.

File bleed & Crop marks

Bleed and crop marks ensure your printed job is trimmed cleanly and accurately.

  • Bleed - allows colour or images to extend beyond the finished edge,
so when the paper is trimmed there are no unwanted white borders.
  • Crop marks - show the printer exactly where the final cut should be made,
ensuring the job is trimmed to the correct size.

Together, they help achieve a professional, edge-to-edge finish.

Canva
